A long time ago, before Chucky Cheese or Ghatti's, there was Shakey's Pizza, the true godfather of mouth-watering, glorious pizza. As a kid growing up in the 1970s, Shakey's Pizza was the one and only pizzaria.
Sadly, the Houston operations were shut down in the late 1970's.
But lo and behold to my surprise did the famous pizzaria appear before me while in Los Angeles, CA.
As long as my memory remains unclouded, it has never lost its touch. The crust thin and crunchy is baked in a wood-fire oven.
The cheese, a perfect melt, and the sauce sweet as honey yet a spicy punch gives it a flawless flavor. No other pizza has ever come close until...
